Nestled in the Arizona desert, bordered by a sea of giant cacti with fantastical shapes, stands Tucson. We stroll downtown through the streets lined with brightly colored houses, sweltering in the heat, and stop for a welcome break in the shade of a mesquite tree, accompanied by a small drink. The intoxicating scents of the Far West float in the air: the slightly smoky and sweet aromas of wild herbs, warm wood, immortelle, and sun-scorched red earth. Contains essences of Rosemary, Immortelle, Rose, Atlas Cedar, Guaiac, Vetiver, Birch, Labdanum, Oregano, Thyme, Laurel, Black Pepper, and Patchouli. Fragrance created with Alexandra Monet.
It is on Awaji Island, thanks to its favorable climate, that the finest incense in the world is found. According to a tradition spanning over a thousand years, passed down from father to son, it is handcrafted by the Koh-shis, or masters of aromas. They alone have perfected the four stages of production: measuring out exclusively natural ingredients—precious woods, herbs and plants, plant resins, and fragrance. Kneading the paste, which is pressed and worked for a long time, then left to rest for two weeks to fully absorb the fragrance. Cutting the paste into long, narrow ribbons to the desired size. Drying in the West Wind for three days, then bundling the sticks.
30-minute burn time each.
