The apothecary jar traces its origins back to the Middle Ages and reached its peak during the Renaissance. Used by apothecaries (the ancestors of our modern pharmacists), this container served to store medicinal herbs, spices, or ointments. Made of ceramic, earthenware, or porcelain, the apothecary jar was distinguished by its airtight lid, which protected its contents from humidity and light, thereby ensuring better preservation.
The apothecary jar is now sought after more for its decorative appeal than for its preservation properties. The Alix D. Reynis white porcelain apothecary jar is crafted in our family-run Limoges manufacture, thanks to the ancestral expertise of our artisans. Versatile and elegant, this container, complete with its sculpted lid, can be used to store spices, small treasures, or simply to enhance your interior decor.
The Alix D. Reynis apothecary jar is available in three sizes: large, medium, and small. The small format is perfect for storing coarse salt, cotton swabs, or for use as a jam pot or mustard pot, making it ideal for a kitchen, a table, or a bathroom. Crafted from Limoges porcelain, it is oven, dishwasher, and microwave safe.
